ACADEMICS

Curriculum

As a college preparatory school, Winston’s curriculum has been developed specifically to help students with learning differences to learn, mature and thrive. The school’s Academic and Visual/Performing Arts classes are A-G certified and meet California State University and UC System requirements, which makes students eligible to apply to these and other colleges and universities.

Winston implements proven instructional methods and modalities to connect with the individual needs of each student. Innovative teaching methods include discussion, art projects, written assignments, group and individual projects, films, field trips, written and oral projects, simulations, role play, educational games and manipulatives.

Honors courses are offered in English. Students are encouraged to take Advanced Placement (AP) exams when they demonstrate preparation for study at the college level in a given discipline. Spanish study is offered to fulfill foreign language requirements.
