Support at School for Children with ADHD
Students with ADHD and other learning differences are more successful academically when their school activities and academic environment benefits their learning style. At The Winston School, our teachers and staff form a team with parents to give each student the consistency and stability needed for personal and educational growth. Learning and growing are not just done in the classroom: they are done at home, at school activities, summer programs, and everyday events. Each day is a new chance for children with ADHD to grow, learn, and achieve new goals, and at The Winston School, we know that it takes all of us working together as a team to make that happen.
One of the ways we work to help students with ADHD is by offering occupational therapy. Either in group settings or one-to-one training, occupational therapy is a very effective tool to help children with ADHD develop the necessary skills to be successful in the classroom and many other areas of life. Occupational therapy improves students’ executive functioning skills such as organization, task management, and assignment completion. All staff and faculty members are highly trained and experienced educators, therapists, and support staff who are passionate about helping children with ADHD, ADD, and other learning differences reach their goals in school, at home, in their personal life, and artistically.
The Winston School also helps students with ADHD by offering on-site counseling. Children with ADHD and other learning differences are more likely to be affected by depression, anxiety, and emotional and behavioral issues. It is important that the mental and emotional well-being of children with ADHD be supported, especially in school, where anxiety may arise due to homework, deadlines, and schedules. Our school counselors are available anytime during school hours for all of our students to support each child as needed.
The Winston School is a wonderful place for children with ADHD and their parents to find support in a team of professionals who have a passion and love for what they do. Contact our office today to find out how we can begin working together to help your child grow, both at school and at home.
